Sounds pretty good.
The Army would love to have a bunch of angry displaced union thugs.
Orders would be ---> get yer 12 gauge… grab sum buck shot … git in yer pickup and drive 3000 miles due East.
Oh wait … ya … we’ll float ya over the big pond

| Quote: | | WILMINGTON, Del. - General Motors Corp. plans to eliminate 25,000 manufacturing jobs in the United States by 2008 and close plants as part of a strategy to revive North American business at the world's largest automaker, its chairman said on Tuesday. | 2 things come to my mind:
1) I didn't know we even had 25,000 manufacturing jobs to begin with in the US.
2) So giving 25,000 people the AX is a way to revive the industry? Don't you love how some people have the magical ability to paint a pretty picture even when the ship is sinking?
A person with such skillz should run for the presidency. We should have a CEO as president. |

Good Point!
I saw a new ad campaign from GM corporate last night. Very curious - they were advertising - Everyone in America now gets the "Employee Discount". I find this very suspiciuous. One - I don't believe it unless they are really just eliminating the employee discount. On the other hand - they may be that desperate.
Also - I do remember something in the news a while back about assigned parking being very good for employees who drive GM, but out in the hinterlands for those who don't. Some kind of pressure!javascript:emoticon(' ') |

| This is good news. The more PO adjustments made before PO means more time to adjust. |

LOL I saw the same ad last night.
It is desperation but at least they are finally trying something. IMHO it's just a clear message that north american auto production is just too inefficient for the global economy.
The 25K cut was an almost obvious move however exactly what they intend to focus on production wise is still a mystery. A recent GM large SUV TV ad has me worried that they think they can still sell these behemoths even once oil hits $60+ this summer
Kerkonian sees value in GM or I should say value in GMAC which is where GM is actually making cash. It will be interesting to see what he does with GM over the next 5 years. |

I saw them talking about their issues a few mornings ago on CNBC. One of the things they said was they where building vehicles that people where not interested in buying. My thought was no crap, your building things that you can't sell and going broke doing int you think that might be an issue? Of course they pointed out that they needed to find ways to get the customers interested in their product.
Here is a hint, you can't talk me into needing a fullsize SUV, but if you make an inexpensive hybrid you may have me interested, until then I'm not even bothering with your car lots.
Do something different because what you're currently doing sucks.
Same goes for you Ford. Where is that turbo diesel focus I was told was coming 3 years ago? _________________ shame on us, doomed from the start
