Sitting inside the simple wooden shack she calls home, Maria Coyago seethes over how the Ecuadorean government has failed to address the problems of her poor hamlet not far from the country's rich oil fields.

..Many of Linares' 200 residents complained that the town lacks drinking water, a sewer system and a decent soccer field. The nearest town is more than an hour walk away along a muddy, rock-filled road.
