What are those loads of resources you speak of? A drought-ravaged land most of the time, followed by periodic apocalyptic floods? Doesn't sound like my idea of paradise. Sure, they've got coal, but you can't eat coal. Now New Zealand, that's probably more of a lifeboat.

Perhaps there is another country out there that produces a ton of wheat , 250 pounds of beef, 80 pounds of lamb and a third of an ounce of gold per year per resident? Among many other things? Let me check... No.

Australia is USA of early 19th century, resource-wise. If NZ is any better, its only because Indonesia along with other Asia is further away.

How much of that food production going to survive peak everything and global warming? It's not like Australia was any sort of bread-basket before the industrial revolution. I'd say australia makes for a pathetic bugout unless you live on Zatyuna farm or something.

The Grunge is a bit much for me. It's almost like a decent into hell through what passes for music. If that's what Vision Master listens to it explains alot.

All I can say about that Chromeo tune is that it would have hit the top of the Disco charts in the 1980's. Sounds like the Brothers Johnson. He even stole a measure from Strawberry Letter 23. The Muse is a Billy Idol clone. Not complaining I like Billy Idol and Disco.

I give Chromeo a big Disco thumbs up. 10/10

Yay! Maybe Disco is making a comeback!

I can guarantee you that in the real Mad Max, he's not gonna look like Mel Gibson nor be wearing a fashionable late 70s leather punk outfit. Think closer to "The Road" with Viggo Mortensen.

Honestly, I don't want nice cheery music to numb me in the midst of all the crap that's happening now. I want stuff that reflects the anger and uncertainty that I've been feeling.

For example:

Cold War Kids-Something is not Right with Me:

Negative Trend- Dead Wrong:

Dead Kennedys-Your Emotions:

The Effigies-Below the Drop:

I have eclectic tastes.. random favorites:

Lucinda Williams

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6SuBacPDvc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na1Lv3eAcCk

Tracy Grammer (her old partner Dave Carter too, now deceased)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCiJEP3RGOY

I saw her live one time. That performance was just her solo, guitar and violin. Gorgeous stuff.

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HNY0rx2fw4

And of course the whole Neil Young catalog.

As far as nostalgic music.. for me that would be Black Crowes, Third Eye Blind, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cranberries, early Snoop Dog, all the 90s stuff.

A couple of songs of hope and despair from Roy Harper:

This has a lovely Gilmour guitar riff done by Roy's son

[quote="Wishart"]My favorite genre is Rock 'n’ Roll but the bands I love span different ‘sub-genres’ within that category (stoner rock, blues rock etc). I don't have a favorite within the sub-genre so I’m just going to lump them all together.

Stoner Rock? like Kyuss?
