Oh just saying that the war threat is pure theater. Just like the Iran farce. The states and their attendant government are facing more problems than they seem to be able to handle let alone world war three

Edit states as in nation states generally not united states

I am sorry friend. War is a racket. There war drums are a combo sales job for the weapons a d mercenary corps and a valve for discontent for some upcoming economic dislocations. Blame the foreigner oldest trick in the book. They'll be enough shooting to get people's blood up and brains off but no world ending war. That's not profitable.

To clarify earlier world wars were a result of breakneck expansion. The grinding wars now are a result of the end of expansion ending and stagnation with some crumbling on the edges with a strong possibility of a core implosion. It's the core implosion all states are worried about.

There are some hubristic factions that are slow on the uptake but they are being moved aside.

These are the ones the world knows about. There are others that have been classified. 1981 was the closest, but don't bother, you won't find it. Cuban Missile Crisis was horrifying for those of us who lived through it. The Stanislov Petrov and the USS Beale incidents tie for second closest. But since then we have kept tight control on information. Don't want to upset the sheep.

Imagine if someone like Sixstrings had been there instead of Petrov or Arkhipov.

It's funny how the world keeps needing rescuing from power mad arrogant statists by different groups of power mad arrogant statists. It's almost as if they're in cahoots with each other to bamboozle society into accepting their rule....

Uh, oh, out comes the libertarian epithet "statist" that only other libertarians recognize as an epithet.

Well do you believe the people of Russia and the US have a conflict that nessicatres all this noise?sure they'll say screw those guys if you ask but if you ask em why all they know is propogands ie mystified as to where their interests actually lie.

The state is the monopoly of violence. It's not your benevolent big brother. Your chains are invisible. What else have you to lose by opening your mind?

War is peace
Freedom is slavery
ignorance is strength

I'm not any one thing or label. Take good ideas from anywhere don't be close minded

No. You're again guilty of simplifying all the world's ills into a singular boogeyman known as "the state". Sorry. It's not so convenient.

Violence and human nature go hand-in-hand. Just look at the recent shooting in Charleston. That had nothing to do with "statism". It's who we are.

I'd rather take a "monopoly of violence", than a "free-for-all violence", thank you.

Its not clear events like Charlestown are spontaneous expressions of violence by lone individuals. It's certainly put forth as a meme that we need to accept less freedom to stop it.

Certainly he did it. How it got to that point is murky as it is with these recent rash of race riots. Who benefits from this chaos? Like in Canada that guy shot up parliament. Next day were bombing Isis. He was under rcmp surveillance and had his passport already revoked. Still he was shot dead and case was pronounced closed Islamic violence needs Syria bombing no investigation necessary.

I'm content to mind my own business. If some psychos want to play these games im just trying to be out of the way. But I don't buy it, it's just too contrived.

Oh, Jesus. You're going to lump tinfoil CT's onto a random act by a nutcase in order to bolster your simple narrative of "state = evil"? You're hopeless.

Currently the state does tend to use any excuse to increase our "security" by restricting freedom. But that doesn't mean they have a monopoly on evil. There are plenty of others out there who would certainly be worse given the chance to rule (but that doesn't excuse the State from consolidating power and taking the interests of their corporate donors over the electorate, for example). Could we try a bit of nuance? :)

Barbarian just means someone outside the historical Roman Empire, it's nothing offensive.

Russian state accounts frozen by Belgium in a move condemned by Moscow have been unblocked, Belgium's foreign minister says.
The assets were seized in a move triggered by a court ruling over the now-defunct Yukos oil firm.
In July 2014, an international arbitration court said Russian officials had manipulated the legal system to bankrupt Yukos.
