I really enjoyed his book "Lies" which I read a few years ago. Haven't followed up on him much since then though.

Schumer: Senate should seat Minn.'s Franken
The Democrat had a 225-vote lead after the completed re-count
updated 8:43 p.m. CT, Sun., Jan. 4, 2009:
MINNEAPOLIS - New York Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday that Democrat Al Franken is the clear winner in Minnesota's Senate race and should be seated as soon as possible. But a leading Republican lawmaker said calling the race for Franken would be premature.
Schumer, who until recently was the head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, made his statement a day after Minnesota elections officials completed the re-count. The latest numbers showed Franken with a 225-vote lead over Republican Norm Coleman. …

Well, this would be a first. The Democrats stealing an election BACK from the Republicans. LOL.

Al Franken is at least a funny man, which puts him yards ahead of the rest of the pack in the Senate. OBODY is funny in the US Senate these days.

It will be interesting to see just what Al would do on the floor of the US Senate. You think he will stop making fun of republicans? LOL.

Why? I'd like to see frankenstein wither away. Be doing us all a big favor. He could not succeed on air america, so now he has to try the U.S. Senate. How could anyone possibly vote for that idiot?

Because the other option was Norm Coleman?

Sure hope so, but it still looks dicey. My God, how could it come down to a couple of hundred votes either way? Talk about your even splits.

You betcha, and here is why. He would be a fool not to challenge such obvious fraud. He has 7 days to challenge, betcha it is done before the day is out.

He's going to challenge the challenge? How many times can they do this and recount? Both sides already have paid lawyers millions to sit and count ballots. Their going to do it AGAIN?
Face it, Bush won by stealing Florida, this is just small payback. Franken is funnier anyhow.

MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Democrat Al Franken beat Republican incumbent Norm Coleman to win the U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota, officials conducting a final recount said on Monday nearly two months after the November 4 election.

The outcome found Franken beat Coleman by 225 votes out of nearly 2.9 million cast but faced a legal challenge. Coleman's aides said in advance that they would pursue a court action, claiming the recount process left out certain absentee votes and that other ballots were counted twice.

A three-judge panel today required Republican Norm Coleman to pay Democrat Al Franken $94,783 to cover court costs in the seven-week U.S. Senate trial.

Franken win means Dem. super-majority in Senate

Unread postby dohboi » Tue 30 Jun 2009, 17:08:50

Franken has finally been declared the winner of last fall's MN senatorial election and Coleman has conceded.

At Last

With a veto-proof majority in both houses, the Dem.s can now finally outlaw the Republican party, hunt down and jail all those who voted for GWB twice, and then the rest of us can finally live in peace, love and understanding :P

But really. This will have a huge impact on the passing of important bills like the climate bill that just passed the House (that we have had such amicable discussions about on neighboring thread...not).
