I apologize if this has been posted already - this is a white paper by Joe Cortright called "Driven to the Brink: How the Gas Price Spike Popped the Housing Bubble and Devalued the Suburbs"

I just spent about two hours reading that paper. Very interesting and very well documented and very well written.

In short, homes located within 2-3 miles of an urban core (such as a strong downtown area) are experiencing very minor decreases in value, while the suburban homes are toast. The houses that are 10+ miles from the city's core are losing a lot of value and it's getting worse.

Thanks for posting that.
