Here is a very interesting article on how poorly vital measurement information on energy use is poorly communicated simply by having too many words that don't easily relate to each other.

Couldn't agree more. The bane of my life at work and a frustration when trying to find out about energy matters. I've lost count of the number of articles on global warming or energy that I've ground to a halt on when I've realised that not only have the mixed units and measures made the article just about unreadable, but also the journo has got completely lost as well. While we're at it, trying to get more readable and transparent reporting of facts and figures, unexplained TLAs (three letter acronyms) are a pain in the arse as well.
