The area should hold a few Old Order Mennonites (bit like the Amish), but I don't think that type of group is what you are looking for.
We should teach our children the 4-Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rejoice.

I'm not that far from Waterloo, why do you ask, Narz? Coming over for a visit?

Probably. I have a friend up in the area who's somewhat down with the plan (and has even more of a sense of urgency than I do).

You have any need for extra farmhands? (feel free to PM or e-mail me with specifics if you don't want to share them here)

I live in Waterloo. My neighbour is a real environmentalist and is very politically active (I'm not), and she is the only person I've met who knows about peak oil. (aside from the fine folks here of course)

If you come over, maybe we can get together as a group for a night out somewhere public and central.

Not much farm work going on at the moment, Narz. It's getting into the season where I work a lot in my day job. ( I'm a computer tech for a school board and the place is empty and I can get lots done in preventative maintenance and upgrades.) Thanks for asking.

PM me if you organize a meetup.
