I studied economic history and have found it very useful in lots of ways. It has certainly been relevant to many of the discussions on this forum.

Also - a degree is a gateway to other things; it opens many doors. How you use it depends on your tastes and how much of a PO doomer you are.

Economic history in the USA works like this:

1. Print a lot of money.
2. Loan 10x money created in (1) to institutions and individuals.
3. Artificially inflate the economy with paper wealth created in (2).
4. Go through minor recession to dampen the superficiality of (3).
5. Goto (1) and repeat.

This pattern (Ponzi scheme, really) is stretched thin and is in its dying days.

You forgot:

1. Privatize authority to create all money by forgoing constitution.
2. Allow one corporation to create all money principally from nothing then allow other corporations to create more money fractionally from the original nothing.
3. Principal Money Corporation loans all money to government and charges interest on every dollar lent into existence.
4. Create an agency to collect income taxes on behalf of gov to service interest payments due to Principal Money Corporation.
5. When public accumulates enough property despite heavy tithing, bust economy to privatize such public gains.
6. Principal Money Corporation establishes mitigation policies for post peak oil economy.

No

We must have hyperinflation before we can *FIX* Hyperinflation.

hyperinflation can only be fixed with a reichsmark.

The digi amero is coming. This catches two birds with one trap.

I'm sure there are excellent oppurtunities at an investment bank or some financial services company. It's a lot better than indoctrinating kids with neo-classical propaganda in academia.
