The Black Market

Unread postby Kristen » Sun 26 Oct 2008, 22:09:37

Everyone is so caught up with the crisis of the free market, I wonder how the black market is holding up and how they each effect each other. For example if deflation is going on, would prices go down on the black market for drugs and other goods? It would be an interesting indicator of the economy because the black market does have an effect in it.

I just read Dmitri Orlov's book Reinventing Collapse, and he said that as the Soviet Union collapsed there was more and more of a black market in everything. I imagine that it will happen here as well, if the regular economy collapses.
Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.

That's 'per kilo' on the coke prices.

More and more I've noticed prescription drugs are sold along with dope. Penicillin can now be bought on the street, for example, but everything from oxycotin to antibiotics are increasingly available. Not too many years ago that just didn't happen.

The black market will rapidly fill the void caused by a crashing economy. No job? No medical insurance? Need your medicine and can't get a prescription? No problem!

Well that's why during the looting you make a stop to the pharmacy first right. Being in college It seems more and more kids are using prescription drugs. I know that if I have people over that I don't know, I hide my ambien away. I've had a few bottles disappear before.

So if the real economy starts to plummet the black market will benefit? I wonder if it is still vulnerable to price fluctuations though

Coke prices jumped recently. The DEA goons were quick to claim responsibility for the price increases. But really it was another 3-letter branch, the FED, that was inflating the currency. Plus there was that CIA plane that went down in Mexico.

Notice how the politicians in DC really bid up the prices there.

Speaking of cocaine... this seizure will certainly cause prices to increase almost immediately.

Expect a corresponding increase in thefts and burglaries enabling the users to fund their costlier habit.

I talked to a friend who works on Wall Street. I asked him how the traders were coping with all the financial turmoil.

He said...........Blow and Hookers! LOL
