KTM electric enduro

I worked on the old electricmoto 'blade', ktm taking a similar tack makes me think I wasn't totaly stupid.

EV's need to be raced, or they won't develop. It is much more probable for $10k bikes than $100k cars.

How soon one of the 'big four'(honda/yamaha/kawasaki/suzuki) jumps is is very hard to say, KTM is way smaller, and can do crazy moves.

I want it! I would love to have an enduro that I can ride around town, and on the trails.
Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.

I want mine with blinkers and a headlight/stoplight. I wonder what the top speed is?

Vegas, you make a good point. EV's like any personal transportation, need to be raced so people can claim "the best" or "the fastest" or the "longest range." It's how the US operates, whether we realize it or not. There's a reason why the Hyabusa and GSXR sell so well in the US.

http://www.quantya.us

The guys KTM copied,

www.electricmoto.com

The guys(me!) that quantya copied.

If they follow the model absolutly, 45mph@48v. Bump the voltage to 72v gets you 55mph. Fast enough for around town, not enough for the freeway.

Quantya will sell you a bike with blinkers. $10k?

Brammo is making a street bike, but it suffers from overactive egoitis. Heavy, and overpriced.

I am very interested to see where KTM comes in at price, If they break $8k we will see a new sport.

Ride without lights or blinkers, when you get pulled over, tell them it goes 25mph. Most states have a minimum displacement law, you under, good to go. What, the local PD carry dynos?
Worked for me for ten years...

Lol I doubt that would work if you're doing 50

100% torque at zero revs? Sounds useful. Not surprising that electric drag racers beat the crap out of the internal combustion competition.

No it won't, but you don't do 50mph around town.

You probly couldn't get away with doing what I was doing, I had a bike with MTB tires/wheels, and no fenders. 'sleeper'.

I have a DRZ400 now, like it, but miss the little electric.
Throttle response!

The drag race EV thing is weird. They stopped letting EV's run with gas, 'cause when you do bracket racing(where consistacy is prized, not just the best time) EV's can hit the mark every time.
Shove the EV geeks in the corner...

It is anticlimactic watching EV's drag. People like the sound of drags. A dead-end sport.
They like the sound of MX bikes too, but loud bikes are killing the sport.

Drag racing is sad and lonely. MX? Oh yeah. Perfect for this application. Can you imagine being able to swear at the guy next to you loud enough for him to hear it!? Ha!

Very mixed results from this link I emailed to friends all over the US.
