With economy in shambles, Congress gets a raise

Unread postby AlexdeLarge » Sat 20 Dec 2008, 10:42:40

"A crumbling economy, more than 2 million constituents who have lost their jobs this year, and congressional demands of CEOs to work for free did not convince lawmakers to freeze their own pay.

Instead, they will get a $4,700 pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries, and watchdog groups are not happy about it."

Congress gets a raise

Well my fellow peasants.... if you are looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror. You voted these POS's back into office.
Viddy well, little brother. Viddy well.

Ohh come on ADL, they'll get that much in bribes this year from AIG alone. Their nominal salary doesn't amount to more than a few percent of the money that they bilk from the American people.
"We were standing on the edges
Of a thousand burning bridges
Sifting through the ashes every day
What we thought would never end
Now is nothing more than a memory
The way things were before
I lost my way" - OCMS

Senate prepares legal remedy
Hillary Clinton's nomination of Secretary of State has resurrected an obscure constitutional clause that prohibits members of Congress from being appointed to positions that saw a wage increase during that lawmaker's tenure.
