Yes well they don't know their bible if they are talking about the destruction of the world per se. The battle of Armageddon is actually a quite localized event, in Israel only. It involves, as best the experts can fathom, the armies of the Arab nations along with Russia. The utter destruction across the globe is another matter, but the term Armageddon is Hollywood's now so you get their spin on it.
Sure their are lots of nuclear weapons, but as Tanada has gone to great pains to point out, their use does not mean the end of the world, their effects are localized and life goes on afterwards. "On the Beach" was a great book, I just re-read it a month ago, but it's scifi, it's not an extrapolation of real world science, the nuclear winter was debunked long ago.
I mean Thousands of nuclear weapons have been detonated, all over the globe, many above ground in the US and it's business as usual as long as you don't want to live at ground zero.
As usual the Armageddon phenomena is mostly a US thing, fed by endless Hollywood movies.
Check out this one, Barack and Michelle Obama are among the executive producers HaHaHa, yeah right, like they would know shit about film production. But they will be Paid Heaps you can bet.
