So, Schumpeter got it completely wrong; oh well.
Instead we got the destruction of capitalism by a corporate elite hell bent on grasping everything not nailed down and buying politicians to grease the rails.

Same logic as Mein Kampf: the economy collapsed and the war was lost because the pointy headed intellectuals did not clap hard enough, not because of any failures of the people actually in charge.
