State Street Net Falls 71% on Costs to Support Funds... State Street said today net unrealized losses on the company’s portfolio of investment securities rose to $6.3 billion at Dec. 31 from $3.3 billion at Sept. 30. ... Unrealized losses on assets held in conduits managed by State Street increased to $3.6 billion from $2.2 billion.

A report by Moody's Investors Service this month said the home loan banks own a combined $76 billion in mortgages that are not backed by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or the federal government.
