The numbers are staggering the civil service and the Government that just claimed there were lots of jobs. UK has moved into Depression. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009 ... -vacancies

A sad article, tough times for those folks indeed, I really think that anyone who wants to work
should be given some sort of opportunity.

Well, at least they still have a "dole" over there, universal healthcare, and a bevy of social support programs. Getting help in hard times is a lot spottier this side of the pond.

On the broader measure favoured by the government, total unemployment is almost certain to hit 2 million, or 6.5% of the workforce.


Inevitably, very few people will continue to believe these government figures.
