If we're talking about 911 coincidences, the first thing I thought on that day was "holy crap, that's just like the Tom Clancy novel!" I forget the title of that book, but it entailed a modern day war with Japan wherein a Japanese pilot slams a 747 into the Congress during a state of the union speech. Most of the government is taken out, except the Secretary of Education (who then becomes President).

When I first read the novel, I remember thinking what a hokey plot device that was -- using passenger planes as weapons, of all things. It was cheesy fiction of the first degree. Then when it actually happened.. just wow.

The WTC buildings were a meme for a long time before their real life drama played out horrifically.

Memes are like genes. They reproduce themselves and become part of the broad culture. How else would something as ridiculous as Chri... {ahem} religion have made it down through the ages?

So, since the powerful meme was already out there, it represented an opportunity to exploit. People were primed for it, especially after 1993. Believe what you will about 1993. I'm not getting into THAT. But 1993 really enforced this broadly-held belief/expectation/myth about the Towers.
