A meeting with a Kurd/ Another perspective on USA.

Tonight I am in transit.
As regulars here know, I come and go through South East Asia (hence SEA Gypsy).

Tonight I had the pleasure of reconnecting with a friend from the biggest country in the world which is not a country, he is a Kurd, from the 'Turkish' side of 'Kurdistan'.
He said some really full on profoundly positive things about the USA.

{Another thing regulars know about me is that I am a hyper argumentative, expat American (with no accent at all as I was raised by an Aussie mother travelling the world and in Australia),
We spoke for about an hour.
This fellow's key point I will put now, and leave for debate (?).}

"Think about it this way. The world needs America.
Imagine if the kind of power America has being weilded by anyone else, any culture, any religion, any country.
Yes America has made mistakes, it is human.
But overall America is an indispensable power for good."

I find this very interesting coming from an extremely well educated middle eastern man.
What do people here think about this?

The same fellow had a very interesting take on Dubai. He was suggesting that the oil rich countries of the middle east created Dubai, simply to have something to invest in unilatterally within their own sphere.

I hope to have a lot more talks over time with this person.
