Just a 9.71% increase since 2000.

The consolation is that food is cheap and McDonald's will have a captive clientele for decades to come. Also, since we don't educate the masses anymore, that too is a non-existent problem. Let the poor move the south, and they'll adapt and survive to the summer and short winter. Problem solved.

I just hate this new healthcare legislation, because now the poor will have relative good access to healthcare, and gosh, they'll be with us longer. Is there anything we can do?

(Sarcasm off)

Sorry about the title mispelling. I meant 308,532,636.

 Might I suggest that having a government bureaucracy in charge of your health-care with all the incompetence, bungling and needless delays that go with it will do more to remove you from the statistical pool then any plague you can imagine.

Seems to work just fine in the Scandinavian countries. Why can't we do it here?
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

The Scandinavian's were not in charge of Katrina. That may be the reason the rescue was a disaster.

I think a capitalist health-care system does a much better job of removing the poor.

And hence my dislike of this new law. Everything was on a perfect plan to exterminate the poor. (More sarcasm.)

Who told you the masses were "educated" ? I am a rich oligarch. Do I need millions of smart people ? Or do I need - workers ?

Rockefeller (aka "the Devil")
“In our dreams ... people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hands. The present education conventions fade from their minds, and unhampered by tradition we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk.

“We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or men of science. We have not to raise up from them authors, educators, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians, nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we have an ample supply.

“The task is simple. We will organize children and teach them in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way.”

One day there will be so many houses, that people will be bored and will go live in tents. "Why are you living in tents ? Are there not enough homes ?" "Yes there are, but we play this Economy game". Now it's "Crisis" time !Too many houses! Yes, we are insane!

Because our politicians are corrupt idiots? Because instead of getting a workable social insurance system (like say Medicare for all -- AND honestly ponying up to PAY for it) we hae a giant mess based on lies, empty promises, and misdirection that is bound to be a fiasco?

Seriously -- Medicare worked GREAT for my parents. They told you what they'd pay for, and they paid the bills promised. The problem is funding. I suspect the wealthier individuals should pay FAR more toward services rendered AND we'd need more taxes to make it work financially.

Try - just try to get a reasonable compromise like that through our corrupt political system. I don't see it happening anytime soon.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

no

USA is the biggest producer both by volume and per capita. A "share" of an average American would be 1072 kg , or 2383 pounds of corn. Its enough corn to live for over 5 years and 10 weeks or so at 2000 calories a day .

If India and China can keep feeding well over a billion mouths with LESS arable land then the USA, I guess 308 million isn't that much of a big deal. Besides it's really about 330 million if you include illegals. :o :P
