So you can be a realist when you put your mind to it?

The U.S. State department, headed by Hillary Clinton, has yet to announce whether it will give final approval for the $7-billion Keystone XL pipeline being proposed by Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP).
However, a study commissioned by the U.S. government and released earlier this week argues that the pipeline could reduce American dependency on oil from the Middle East and other regions by a substantial amount.
It also suggests the proposed 3,060-kilometre pipeline, coupled with a reduction in overall U.S. oil demand, "could essentially eliminate Middle East crude imports longer term."

Its interesting that about half the posters think the US is helping Israel to keep getting ME oil, and the other half think the US has to dump Israel to keep getting ME oil.
You're all wrong.
Israel doesn't have any oil and Israel isn't helping the US get any oil and cutting off Israel wouldn't gain the US a single additional barrel of oil.

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Planty finally said something rational. I know it happens once every six months or so.
The US supports Israel for the same reason it supports Europe (NATO) and South Korea. It is in order to further the cause of democratic regimes.
