Native American finds love & tranquility in Russian village

Life on the Lakota reservation, as in Slavtsevo, is not easy. Economically blighted despite stimulus package funds, the unemployment rate is among America’s highest, with one-quarter living at or below the poverty line.

If the US and Russian spouse visa regulations were the same, they wouldn't be in Russia.
It is nothing unusual to wait 2 years for a US spousal visa, especially where step children are involved.
Also to qualify you need an income, unemployment benefits don't count.
I think that dude will die of boredom pretty quick if they stay in Russia.

Luxury life of American DJ in Russia

DJ Stan previously spun the tunes at the Playboy Mansion, and has even worked with Madonna and Moby, but he's chosen to settle with his family in Moscow and even has designs on starting a new generation of Muscovite DJs.

BTW Evgeny, how is general morale in Russia today? We don't get much news about you out here except when something big happens. How are the ordinary folks doing?

From what I hear some of the new capitalists are pulling the same move the jobs to China scam they are pulling on the west. If the Russian government doesn't squash these bugs, then soon Russia will have 18% and higher unemployment too.

What is happening is surreal. The "goods" produced in China are horrendous crap which has been pushed on the consumer by the retailers (so much for supply and demand). For now, the merchants make a killing reselling the trash worth a few cents for tens of dollars. They think that this reselling is enough to have a developed economy. The will have to drop the prices eventually since nobody will be able to afford the prices from the era when people had real jobs.

What work is there in the smaller villages? How do you get by? Is there much barter going on? What is the going wage for a simple farm worker?

Little France in Russian village

Carole Pompon is French, but loves the Russian countryside so much that she set up an eco-friendly "hotel farm" in the village of Svetlitsy.

The visa will be issued for free.
The visa will be valid for 5 years and will be a multiple entry visa.
There will be no quota restrictions.
There will be no restrictions on work, or in other words the person that has been granted such a visa will be able to work in any profession.

In order to get the visa the applicant must provide.
A certificate from their local police force stating that there are no outstanding criminal warrants.
Undergo a series of medical tests.
A HIV negative certificate.
A test proving that the applicant does not have VD, otherwise known as "Socially transmitted diseases".
A test proving negative for Tuberculoses.
A test proving negative for leprosy.

The applicant will have to provide their marriage certificate.
The applicants spouse will have to provide a copy of their internal passport.

It is also advised to contact the UFMS in the local region and to enquire which of these documents will need to be notarised locally..

This is the only translation I can find of currently under revision spouse visa laws is Russia.

Compared to the USA's it is extremely lax.
No warrants for arrest?// No criminal record full stop.
No income test?// Very strict income tests and set limits for sponsors.
6 months processing?// 2 years processing.

I spend a lot of time around Americans with foreign wives.
There are only 3 reasons why these choose not to migrate their wives and kids back stateside:

1/ They don't trust them. (They expect they will lose her once she realizes her options)
2/ They can't sponsor. (Either because of criminal record or lack of visible means of support)
3/ They really want to live in their wife's country for the rest of their lives.

As it seems this couple is genuine. Strike off one.
The guy states he wants to take them back to the states 'one day'. Strike off three.

There is my logic, based on many years experience with expats and their foreign wives.

The questions I asked about living in these places, I really am interested. Russia has fascinated me since I was a small child. Excuse me for picking holes in the thread story please, it's just obvious to me.

There is no work. People live off pensions of disabled and retired people for the most part. $50-60 a month for those lucky enough to get a job (temporal). $25-30 a month wage is not unheard of, and often paid with produce, or not paid at all.

So do people keep on gardening, growing and preserving food? How is the medical system?
Where I live in the Philippines the wages are about double to triple these Russian pensions; life is pretty tough here, must be tougher there I guess?
