Now THIS is a BILL!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee is considering making it a felony to follow some versions of the Islamic code known as Shariah, the most severe measure yet put forth by a national movement whose members believe extremist Muslims want Shariah to supersede the Constitution.

The bill - drawn up by conservatives with ties to opponents of a planned Islamic center two blocks from New York City's ground zero and efforts to expand a mosque 30 miles southeast of Nashville - would face steep constitutional hurdles if enacted.

Nevertheless, it represents the boldest legislative attempt yet to limit how Muslims worship.

Well.. depends on how it is written. If they're aiming to stop people from practicing their religion in their private lives then this is clearly unconstitutional.

Whole thing is silly though. What are they smokin' up in Tennessee.. do they really think the Muslim Hordes are hiding just over the border in Georgia, ready to invade and bring on an islamic republic?

It is sad to see those people who will toast and sing kudos for the new American Taliban agenda, and who have NO clue as to what America really is.

Indeed, terrorists have taken over the Tennessee legislature.

When this gets ridiculed on court, then they'll elect judges who are more extreme Bible thumpers who are thoroughly corrupt and industry owned.

Of course these guys are likely to beat up a Hindu or a Jew, because they can't tell the difference between a Sihk and a Sufi. Heck they even said Elana Kagan, an observant Jew, is pushing sharia.

This is an essential part of fascism, like accusing the Jews of drinking Christian baby blood. Notice that labor unions are also under attack? Yep, that's also essential to fascism, as is pushing the country into an economic downward spiral.

What infuriates me is the role Islam plays in advancing capitalism. Whilst one feels a degree of sympathy for Arabs and Muslims being singled out, they still persist in flocking to the cause of capital in places such as Chechnya and were very active in the breakup of Yugoslavia. In contrast, they studiously avoid East Turkistan in China where, coincidentally, Western capital is flocking.

Then the obsession with Palestine whilst their greates resource, oil, has been and is being squandered at bargain basement prices at the behest of the Saudi's, the corrupt heart of Islam.

Frankly I would love to see capital and Islam fall out. This cosy relationship has to end before we can, as a planet, move on to tackle this dreadful ponzi scheme we live under. As it is, Islam, (and Judaism and Christianity) has reduced what is an issue of global class struggle to medieval parochialism.

The irony to me has long been how close in thought fundamentalist "Christian" conservatives and Sharia supporters are. Their views of gender roles and crime and punishment are very similar, among other things. They both want to force government to be more religious. They are anti-pluralist, xenophobic, and have a singular view of what their country's culuture should be like and would like to see people with differing opinions or lifestyles imprisoned or exiled. One could make a very extensive checklist of their similarities.
