I don't know: Is Nancy playing him? She's like a "Damsel in Distress" against the Big Evil Trump. Certainly, playing that way.

They are clearly playing one another for the American public opinion.

Who will win remains to be determined, Maybe it will be someone else, a third party who grabs the spotlight of reason.

Nancy is as far from an innocent, helpless "Damsel in Distress" as you can get.

Its more like the Congress is a bordello and the Congresscritters are a bunch of whores, and Nancy is the Madam of the whorehouse. She's the boss, and she's in control. If any of her "girls" get uppity or try to run away, she'll call in the muscle to deal with them.

Pelosi always reminds me of the wicked witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz.
Of course that makes Democratic congressmen she has under her thumb flying monkeys.

Trump to make major announcement on the topic of the border and the shutdown tomorrow at 2 pm central time. I have surmised it is one of the following possibilities:

1) Trump caves completely (not happening)

2) He's going to demand all able bodied men rush to the border with guns. (I wish)

3) Trump will declare a national emergency concerning the border and build it using his executive power to do so. (This is the most likely)

The problem with option 3 is some black robed judge in the 9th circuit will immediately putting a halt to this. Supreme Court here we go.

Pretty interesting article in Pelosi from CNN.

In short they are saying that this claim Trump outed the commercial flight is andamn big deal and Pelosi needs to be able to back it up.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/18/politics ... index.html

If Trump did “out” this trip then that was flat stupid. If Pelosi made up the accusation then that was flat stupid.

It’s damn hard to argue either case positively. Someone screwed the pooch here.

Is this a game changer?

In case #3 does he then sign appropriations bill and bring government back online? I don’t know that is going to buy him much.

I’m betting it’s something else, don’t know what. But he’s doing a build up, that tells me he is pulling out his Trump card, something unexpected.

Perhaps he will say “This nonsense has gone on long enough, it needs to come to an end. I need to end it and open government back up. So here’s what I’ll do”.....then offer some kind of compromise position to the D’s, give them 3 days to sing on, and if not then declare emergency.

I think he has to leave this in the D’s lap to make a decision after he gives some concession. Make the negotiation very public.

Will be interesting to see. World class poker. Popcorn delux.

When 20 Congressmen book a commercial flight, the White House wouldn't need to leak it. It would be all over the news from other sources. Remember that Trump was the one who encouraged her to go commercial in his letter. What I could not find out from the news story, is if she is going on the trip or not. If she isn't going then there is no security problem.

The deal is DC operates on leaks. Everyone leaks. Wouldn't necessarily be Trump who leaked it. Could have been anyone in any agency who knew about the trip. Could have even been Pelosi herself.

Yes, in the case that he declares a national emergency, he would go ahead and sign the funding bills to reopen government. Under his emergency powers he could use military funding to build the wall. But with Trump it could be almost anything. He doesn't think like a politician so its totally unpredictable what he might do.

If they actually booked the tickets to begin with. Congress critters hate using their own money for anything if a taxpayer can pick up the tab.

I can’t find anything that says they actually booked flights.

Nor can I find anything that Trump leaked. If he “leaked” something it was a very poor leak.

Anyone with a brain knows that Pelosi is a typical liberal power broker politician. As for distress, being married to a billionaire doesn't exactly leave her without means or power.

I'm always amused at how liberals complain about Trump's expenses re security and golf, but it's just fine that she rides around in a fancy government jet to go home from Washington, on the taxpayer's dime (while she could afford her own fancy travel arrangements just fine, if she wants extras) -- yet you won't hear liberals carping about that.

As a moderate, it would be nice to see both sides be more consistent and less hypocritical.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Plant,

He’s not a billionaire, well maybe, no one knows. Her net worth is between 45 and 200 million. His net worth is at least 100 million, some say much more. So really, don’t exaggerate about their wealth. They are scraping by just like us.

Trump pledged to work with Congress on additional immigration reforms once this bill passes. TPS is temporary protected status people who are in the country illegally but not being deported. The Senate Republicans will take up the bill this week and force a vote on it. If the Dems reject it, then the shut down is back on them. Trump can then either leave the government shut down or he can reopen the government and declare a national emergency and build the wall that way.

Trump is not going to cave on the funding for the wall. If the Dems thought otherwise, they were fooling themselves. He is offering them some things they wanted to see if they will compromise with him.

I think Pelosi made a tactical mistake by rejecting his offer before hand.
She’s trying to out Trump Trump.
We shall see, but I think the ball is in her court. Trump made the negotiation public.

I think this is he way of saying “See what I have to put up with!”

It all depends upon who folks resonate with.
