Is copper the new precious metal?

Unread postby Revi » Mon 23 May 2011, 09:25:59

A copper penny (pre-1982) is now worth about 2.66 cents. It makes sense to save them now. I keep all the brown pennies, and roll them up into tubes. We have a little piggybank, and all the pennies that are pre-82 go in there. I just throw them in if they are brown, then put on my glasses and sort them out.

It's an easy way to almost triple your money. The piggybank is paying over 200% interest, if you think of the increase in value.

Here's seven steps on how to hoard copper. I may get a $25.00 bag of pennies and try it some time this week.

i see people on Craigslist selling their sorted copper pennies, though at a discount from copper value.

usually for about 2 cents each.

in terms of industrial uses, copper is very similar to silver in terms of electrical & thermal conductivity.

some metal vendors sell copper ingots for ridiculous prices over copper value - that is, there are investors willing to pay 5x copper value for a copper ingot.
