I posted on this sometime ago but it is interesting to me that most folks on this site only know King Hubbert for his very short foray into predictions on oil depletion. He is most famous for his contributions to the world of rock mechanics through some of the papers that he wrote through the fifties, on his own and with Rubey as co-author. His theories on pore fluid pressure have had far reaching impact in the understanding of everything from oil migration, through ground water hydrodynamics to earthquakes. There have been very little more than tweaks to his original theories since published.
One of my thesis supervisors from many years ago (god rest his soul) worked with Hubbert at the Shell research labs on the very topic of pore fluid pressure which is why this bit of trivia interests me.

Heh, someone posted some flamebait so I responded by posting something ridiculous back at them.

Then they marked the thread as "bait post" by editing the title.

I come back after a day away and the title is "M. King Hubbert Award".

The doublethinker in me loves the revisionism around here. :)
