Explosion at Norway's oil and energy ministry

Unread postby tsakach » Fri 22 Jul 2011, 11:36:03

Norway's oil ministry has been evacuated following an explosion close to the government's headquarters amid reports that the oil ministry is on fire and may have been the target of the attack.

"We've all been evacuated, I didn't see a fire after the explosion but I've been told there is a fire in the (oil ministry) building," an oil ministry spokesman told Platts.

The official was unable to confirm reports of one fatality from the blast or whether the blast was directed at the oil ministry.

Norway's Dagbladet cited police at the scene saying that the attack was directed against the oil and energy ministry and the building is on fire. The newspaper said the police believe the blast was caused by at least one car bomb.

Earlier, Norwegian radio reported that the explosion seemed to happen near the finance ministry, which is near the Norwegian prime minister's office and Norway's biggest tabloid newspaper VG.

I bet it was those pesky right wing terrorists that our Homeland Security head keeps talking about. Maybe it was someone upset about Obamacare that Bloomberb blamed in the past. Could be those terrible Christians that pstarr is always railing about, I hear the Quakers are particularly violent.

Sounds grim, gun man in a youth camp. Bomb in the city center.

Good luck to all our Norwegian posters, hope none of your friends and family are caught up in this.

I still have very strong memories of 7 July 2005 as everyone we knew checked in through the day hoping none were among the victims.

I hope your friend and family are all quickly accounted for.

Game Changer: Norway’s encounter with terror.
There are further possibilities of the July 22 explosion being the result of Norway’s treatment of the Iraqi Kurdish Islamist Mulla Krekar. In July 2011, Norway brought terror charges against Najm al-Din Faraj Ahmad alias Mullah Krekar, the founder of the outlawed Kurdistan Islamic group of Ansar al-Islam after he threatened former Norwegian asylum minister Erna Solberg. In media interviews Krekar had said that if he is deported to Iraq and killed there, they would face the same fate.

Iraqi born Mulla Krekar had come to Norway as a refugee in the early 1990s and spent years secretly shuttling between Oslo and Kurdistan until his arrest in September 2002.

If you're of the tin-hat persuasion, you might expect events that would give the US an excuse to occupy Iraq beyond Dec. 31. The Saudis and the settlers and probably some jihadis also want the US to stay.

Speculation at this early stage is liable to be guesses at best.

Perhaps let things settle a little first.

It looks like it was ultra-nationalists, not Islamic extremists:

How free are we today with the dominance of globalist capital and militarized security apparatus?

Aye, nothing islamic in the suspect:
Image
The 32-year-old Norwegian man arrested for gunning down children on the holiday island of Utoya has been named locally as Anders Behring Breivik.
Described as 6ft tall and blond, he is reported to have arrived on the island of Utoya and opened fire after beckoning several young people over in his native Norwegian tongue.
Reports suggest he was also seen loitering around the site of the bomb blast in Oslo two hours before the island incident.
More than 80 are believed to have been killed - in Oslo and on Utoya Island, 50 miles north of the capital, it was claimed.
Norwegian police said at least 80 were killed at Utoya alone and described the killings as of 'catastrophic dimensions'.
Police have said the attacks do not appear to be linked to Islamist terrorism but they are linking the two incidents.
Initially, however, it was not known what the motives were - whether the gunman had been radicalised and was part of a militant Muslim group waging Jihad or was alternatively trying to further a home-grown political cause.

Actually the opposite
The suspect arrested for twin terror attacks in Norway Friday has been identified as Anders Behring Breivik, according to media reports in the U.K. and Norway.
Police believe the 32-year-old, six-foot-plus Norwegian acted alone in the bombing of government offices in Oslo and an assault with firearms on a island youth camp less than a hour from the capital.
A man fitting Breivik's description was reportedly seen in the area of the bombing prior to the explosion.
Norwegian television said that Breivik belongs to right-wing circles in Oslo, and a Swedish newspaper has reported the Breivik has posted on right-wing forums in Norway.
Norwegian media has linked Breivik to a Facebook account in which the poster described himself as a Christian conservative.

Wow, good call:

Breivik, arrested by police and charged with the shootings, was described as a 32-year-old member of the Free Masons and a right-wing extremist who hates Muslims. A Facebook page matching his name and the photo given out by the police was set up just a few days ago. It listed his religion as Christian, politics as conservative. It said he enjoys hunting, the video games World of Warcraft and Modern Warfare 2, and books including Machiavelli’s “The Prince” and George Orwell’s “1984.”

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who has spent every summer on Utøya since the early 1970s, was informed of the skyrocketing death toll, up from 10 a few hours earlier, and said he was deeply saddened and shaken. The AUF summer camp attracts some of the brightest and most ambitious members of the Labour Party’s next generation, so the massacre means a huge loss to the party’s future.
News in English

In Oslo, giant clouds of light-colored smoke rose hundreds of feet as a fire burned in a six-story office building that houses the Oil Ministry, one of the damaged structures from the two blasts at 3:20.

A little piece of Libya and Iraq and Afghanistan arrives in Norway. This will be used as an excuse for more killing.

Seems more like a little piece of Oklahoma city to me. After all, he didn't kill Moslems, he fought a courageous battle against the evil gubmint, employing the rather indirect method of killing children and young people.
