I still have very strong memories of 7 July 2005 as everyone we knew checked in through the day hoping none were among the victims.SteinarN wrote:Nine or ten shot dead confirmed at youth camp. Seven confirmed dead at Oslo government building explosion site.
There are further possibilities of the July 22 explosion being the result of Norway’s treatment of the Iraqi Kurdish Islamist Mulla Krekar. In July 2011, Norway brought terror charges against Najm al-Din Faraj Ahmad alias Mullah Krekar, the founder of the outlawed Kurdistan Islamic group of Ansar al-Islam after he threatened former Norwegian asylum minister Erna Solberg. In media interviews Krekar had said that if he is deported to Iraq and killed there, they would face the same fate.
Iraqi born Mulla Krekar had come to Norway as a refugee in the early 1990s and spent years secretly shuttling between Oslo and Kurdistan until his arrest in September 2002.

The 32-year-old Norwegian man arrested for gunning down children on the holiday island of Utoya has been named locally as Anders Behring Breivik.
Described as 6ft tall and blond, he is reported to have arrived on the island of Utoya and opened fire after beckoning several young people over in his native Norwegian tongue.
Reports suggest he was also seen loitering around the site of the bomb blast in Oslo two hours before the island incident.
More than 80 are believed to have been killed - in Oslo and on Utoya Island, 50 miles north of the capital, it was claimed.
Norwegian police said at least 80 were killed at Utoya alone and described the killings as of 'catastrophic dimensions'.
Police have said the attacks do not appear to be linked to Islamist terrorism but they are linking the two incidents.
Initially, however, it was not known what the motives were - whether the gunman had been radicalised and was part of a militant Muslim group waging Jihad or was alternatively trying to further a home-grown political cause.
The suspect arrested for twin terror attacks in Norway Friday has been identified as Anders Behring Breivik, according to media reports in the U.K. and Norway.
Police believe the 32-year-old, six-foot-plus Norwegian acted alone in the bombing of government offices in Oslo and an assault with firearms on a island youth camp less than a hour from the capital.
A man fitting Breivik's description was reportedly seen in the area of the bombing prior to the explosion.
Norwegian television said that Breivik belongs to right-wing circles in Oslo, and a Swedish newspaper has reported the Breivik has posted on right-wing forums in Norway.
Norwegian media has linked Breivik to a Facebook account in which the poster described himself as a Christian conservative.
