It's not "doom" as such if you clearly see what you need to do in 2012. Without that perspective, even trivial events look like a conspiracy or the apocalypse. Nobody lives forever or is even remembered very long, so everyone should get over themselves and take care of immediate business. The solar system will get along just fine with or without you.

This really reminds me of my youth. Hippies who can't stand any 'negativity' at all and are happy to blame anyone who says anything about it for it's existence. Very immature and patently unrealistic.
