People all over the world are reporting they are hearing strange sounds and recording them on video. A compilation of these separate incidents has been uploaded to YouTube, and one fact is chillingly clear.

Whatever these unearthly noises are, they all sound similar, and are, so far, unexplained.

Very strange about a week or so ago I heard something outside that seemed pretty loud....thought is was that giant ass C130 cargo plane that trains take off and landings at the airport about 7 miles away. So I open the window upstairs and start looking for the plane like always. No plane just these weird low frequency sounds...it goes on for about 5 minutes then nothing. I figure that was weird... ran across this post today. Think some of the videos are a hoax, but what I heard was something very similar about the same time frame here in NC.

There is a good video which convincingly shows most of these videos if not all of them are a hoax, but then, on this board and others, there are posters like Madpaddler who have personally heard the same phenonema which gives it some credibility to me. On another board, there was a link to an old 1893 science article on a noise phenonema at Yellowstone and from the descriptions contained in the article they heard an unknown "metallic" like noise in the air, likened it to a steam engine, that appeared to be everywhere but originating from the "southwest."

who are quite happy we blab on about this while a factory can be built in Chindia for the cost of an ordinary 3 bedroom house. While we pay effectively triple primary on our mortgages we can do with the distraction.

I'm gonna go with hoax on this one. In the videos it seems that the sounds are occurring in populated areas yet not a word on radio, TV, or news paper. Then we have one person recording a youtube video proclaiming sounds are coming from the Earth.

What would be believable is if this happened and a large group of people going about their lives looked around and said "what's that sound" but instead we have to settle for the sketchy video of a person or two wondering what the sound is...

However many of the recordings being touted round youtube are fakes.

No doubt in a week or two some audiophile will have worked out which movie the sound effect are ripped from.
