i suggest the following trees forever.This Earth is for trees and by trees and of the trees like
1. Pongamia tree
2. Jojoba trees
3. Jatropha trees4. caster oil trees
4.Paradise trees
5.Madhuca Indiaca trees
6. Bamboo plants ...grass type super grass of course..

7.Rubber trees
and all other non edible trees and with these trees augmentation over the world we will get plenty of oil
and we can save our Earth with Green Carpet cover...and virtual oxygen tank..
we all live happily forever without worrying about peak oils
fossils oils
etc

Great post some very useful trees,not necessarily a global answer to peak oil but definitely a localised transitional answer.

It's a good option if you have some spare farm land and don't drive frequently. How much oil will you get from cultivating 1 acre of land? What is the cost of converting it into automobile fuel?

Big chunks of the world where simple wood gas could earn it's weight from a tractor.

With the moringa its estimated at 1000 t0 2000 Litres per hectare per annum

A small diesel car would give you about 8 miles per litre.
So if you cultivate 1 hectare you should be able to drive a car 8000 - 16000 miles per year. Not bad.
