I don't think an Anarchist counts as a Democrat, but close enough I guess.

I'm neither doomer nor corny.

Also democrat/republican is rather parochial and they're both the corporate party anyway.

Poll fail :-D

How about a poll choice for continued slow gradual decline punctuated by intermittent economic and political crises? :)

By mainstream standards I'm a doomer, by this site's standards I'm perhaps slightly on the corn side. Both parties are inadequate but republicans are worse so I'm left leaning.

Political party: None of the above. I hate them all, more or less. If there's ever a party that focuses on dealing with reality as it is, and solving obvious problems to benefit the majority of human beings, I'd probably join up. I'm not holding my breath.

Doomer Status: We're not mining hydrocarbons. We're mining energy. We have to get enough energy from hydrocarbons to sustain both hydrocarbon extraction AND the economic activity it supports. Whether we've hit quantitative peak oil or not doesn't seem that relevant. It's all about the energy return, which has been on a steady decline since the discovery of oil.

Effectively a D-D since the I don't care for plutocracy and don't believe in the Energy Fairy.

No belief in Fairies required pops! Just believe in the Sun, the Wind, and most importantly the almost limitless amount of energy in Fusion Reactors :)

Oh, I have all the faith in the world that we'll be 100% reliant on sun and wind in a few generations, and just a few short years away from unlimited energy from fusion reactors as well.

As Doomerism is a religion it is not possible to be both doomer and Atheist at the same time

Isn't it? Atheism is the absence of 'God'; the THE in THEISM. Since when is 'God' necessary for 'doom'?

The god in "Peakoil Doomerism" is crude oil itself and to be without the "God " is to die. They do not fear the oil god the fear the lack of it. Heaven is to own a producing oil field . hell is to have none nor the means to buy or trade for any.
You are technically correct, I'm just pointing out the similarities between what is preached here and what goes on in the average religion or cult.

With regards to doom, it is also helpful to see how most human beings (who earn only around two dollars a day) see religion and politics.
