Gore was never a minimalist, he is a died in the wool capitalist that believes we can enjoy the riches of BAU through a new age of green innovation. In which there is a lot of money to be made. He has never stated differently. In fact he promotes that idea.

In his world, he buys a preexisting home, makes it 50% more energy efficient then the previous owner, or any other future buyer might do, and it turns out to be net environmentally positive.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

Rich households are biggest polluters, report says

OTTAWA - A new study says the richest 20 per cent of Canadian households spew almost twice -- 1.8 times -- the greenhouse-gas emissions of the country's lowest income-earners.

So what? Al Gore is just a man. Whatever he does has nothing to do with the truth or not of Man Made Climate Change. This is the problem with you deniers. You think that all "truth" including scientific truth is based on the human being who is espousing it. I never hear a climate change believer ever mention Al Gore, we talk about scientific facts, not fallible human beings. But the denier side is always attacking human beings for being less than saintly rather than presenting scientific evidence. See the attacks on Charles Darwin, the man, as if the way he led his life has anything to do with the truth of the scientific Hypothesese he devised.)

Pardon me for extrapolating from the topic of this thread that the OP is a denier who gets some comfort from this piece of news about Al Gore's new home and is going to use it in all future climate change discussions, as if the emotions generated by this piece of news that puts Al Gore in a bad light somehow boost his side of the argument against Anthropogenic Climate Change.

Global Warming debate aside: it's a bit tacky. Decoration-wise at least.... the architecture isnt all that bad.. though its clearly a thin walled plaster covered knockoff rather than a real solid masonry house: sigh : too bad too, the solar mass of a real stone house would certainly have saved him some air conditioning dollars.

I don't care if the rich have gargantuan houses, but if you can afford to build an Italian villa, build an Italian villa, Dont built a set piece that uses the same cheap-come-apart-in-50-years-system that everyone else uses nowadays. The true waste is in the throwaway building system.

Charles Darwin formulated his hyposthesis in the 19th century. So I have no idea what you are talking about. If you don't accept the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection then that makes you one of a few million of the most ignorant people on Earth. And puts you at odds with all the major Christian Churchs that all accept it as well as that the universe is 13 - 14 billion years old.

So please do tell us more of your ignorance?

Considering all he has sacrificed for the purpose of getting the word out I don't begrudge him.
Alfred Tennyson wrote:We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
