New oilsands pipelines would improve Canada's energy security risk: U.S. Chamber
Building export pipelines will greatly improve Canada’s energy security risk rating and ease the risk to its trading partners as well, concludes a new study from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

It improves Canadian wealth, i.e. security, by developing more international trading partners.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

It is more correct to say it improves corporate wealth and wealth of the Republic of Alberta. Canadians will be stuck with the multi-billion dollar cleanup costs. The tar sands have the biggest toxic waste ponds on the planet and which are already contaminating the Athabasca River judging from the deformed fish. The Canadian federal government does not collect an enormous amount of money from the tar sands so all the talk about Canadian wealth is just prattle.

I agree that the corporatists stand to make the lion's share of the haul, but like SA, a country that holds a wealth of natural resources the world needs can wield a great deal of governmental influence and power. Which is why Prime Minister Stephen Harper is all in on this one.
