New internet censorship

Unread postby Rod_Cloutier » Sat 08 Feb 2014, 16:30:19

Several websites are now being blocked by Google for something called badware:

https://www.stopbadware.org/badware

These are 100% political, economic, and environmental websites like http://www.truthdig.com/

Many countries in the world censor the internet. I feel this is the first of many attacks on websites to come. The stop badware program redirects you to a site suggesting your computer is at risk, and in many cases it also won't load the webpage.

I thought something like this would eventually be tried by TPTB to shut down free speech and the internet. How do people in censored countries work around things like this? Anyone have any anti-censorship browsing tips?

Diagnostic page for truthdig.com
...
Has this site hosted malware?
No, this site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.

How did this happen?
In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message.

I don't think this is necessarily censorship. I got one of these warnings about a City of Calgary site.

Strange I've never had a problem accessing AlJazerra English news prior to today? What news story are they trying to prevent me from reading today, that I can no longer access the website??

Youtube has now created 200 'Super flaggers' to censor Youtube videos. Mark Dice who had 600,000 + subscribers to his Youtube channel had his account terminated yesterday, as an example of this crackdown of freedom of speech on the internet.

This Youtube content creator provides a clear and concise complaint about this new censorship policy for Youtube here:

With Turkey now banning Twitter, this is yet another attack on civil liberties. Another step down on the road of social and political decline.

Freedom of speech- loved it while it lasted. I'm going to savor what time we have left.

Surprised no one has mentioned that the Evil Empire is getting out of the internet business.

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

I guess so. It becomes hard to make a call if you can't find the number.
