The States Most Likely To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse

Just for the heck of it, I'll post something the doomers will like.

Where to live in a Zombie Apocalypse
There's some debate about how to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. Some say science will save us all, some will rely on math, and still others are banking on specialty gadgets. You can buy Zombie Apocalypse survival kits, and there are even Zombie Apocalypse maps that pinpoint where the danger zones would be in a zombie-mergency.

:o  8) While I agree that Vermont will probably do alright in a "Zombie apocalypse" I think most of their conclusions are wrong. Problem being that about half their data comes from Facebook which is hardly a random or representative sample of the population. And really does anyone with brains think that those that are "Interested in martial arts" really are competent in any of them? The Idea that Zombies would prevail in Texas is laughable and most of Dixie not a real consideration other then Florida and the half of Virginia that can't get far away enough from DC.

So you're saying they'd starve down there?

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

No the Texas landowners would shoot them and either feed them to the buzzards or compost them for fertilizer.

There's no scientific evidence that the zombie virus is destroyed by the composting process.

If you look at the list in the link, you'll notice Texas just barely made the zombie-friendly list. It scored poorly in physically active, obesity and % of the population who are veterans, among other things.

Loki: you are confusing (perhaps on purpose) B movie Zombies with economic collapse zombies. The B movie zombies aren't real and never will be. Unfortunately economic zombies created by a collapse of the economy and government are a real possibility.

Economic zombie = Ecnombie?

See 'em every day, the walking dead. AKA Cliff Dwellers or Urbanites.

Characterized by a 100% reliance upon the JIT system, including the grid, and globalization working.

To identify one ask it "how will you cope if the power goes out for a month and there is no water, sewer, or food."

A true Ecnombie will answer....."Then I'll just die."

Hum, maybe Global Ecnombieization?

Elon Musk talked on 60 minutes yesterday about how the Tesla solar panel electric charge stations will still be functioning during the zombie apocalypse.

He forgot that there is no such thing as solar road maintenance. In a few short years most roads, highways and bridges without upkeep would become impassable. Tesla electric charge stations would become islands of a useless anachronism to a lost future.

He did seem to have said it in jest, but then he turns around and says seriously Spacex and human colonization of Mars as humanity's only hope to survive. 8O

Newsflash - there are more well-trained long gun marksman [smilie=new_snipersmilie.gif] and concealed carrying agents [smilie=new_2gunsfiring_v1.gif] in and around the D.C. area than probably anywhere else in the world. Not to mention the numerous military bases that are in and surround the area [smilie=qtank.gif]. Of course, there are also lots of liberals with no weapons and who would probably more likely want to offer the zombie a sandwich and hot shower [smilie=XXhippylove.gif] as soon as shoot them in the head - but that just keeps the zombies occupied while the rest pick them off.

Hate to disappoint all the nutty right-wingers, survivalists and libertarians out there, but historically, nationwide viral epidemics tend to begin their outbreaks in Texas or the deep South, then they run rampant through the Midwest. Sure, they affect the cities of the Northeast too, but usually, the places least affected (if there are any) are liberal strongholds like California and Washington DC. There are some red states that avoid the plague - Montana and West Virginia tend to be less affected, but in general, plagues don't care if you're liberal or conservative. Why? Because folks in rural areas are just as reliant on up-close human interaction as those in the city - if not more so.

http://gis.cdc.gov/grasp/fluview/main.html

Sure, a zombie apocalypse is different than an airborne virus, but I tend to think the gun nuts will be first to go, since they'll be the ones making the most noise and attracting the zombies, and ammo does tend to run out. The limp-wristed liberals will tend to last longer because in a zombie apocalypse, they won't think all their birthdays have come at once, so they'll be hiding in their local supermarket rather than running around pretending they're Rambo.
