Headlines for 2084

OK, the world doesn't even figuratively come to an end by 2084, but the world is very changed. What headlines would we expect to see?

How about New York City contracts with Italian company based in Venice to supply Gondola's for experimental service in New York City.

Based upon a much older service of city-wide bicycle rentals which were halted in 2064 because they were not usable during high-tide. These new gondolas will feature voice activated auto-pilot, but the Central Park Lake will still have gondoliers present and will not be self-piloting.

13 safety tips to insure your afternoon cooling unit does not fail this summer, brought to you by GE/ADM, "Together, we endure".

Not on paper of course, but handheld, video panel evolved, successor to current media/net/tablet devices. With 13 views for the article, and separate and personally targeted, context appropriate advertisements on each panel; the last of which is an apple sitting on a bed of ice, "Simple luxury, future technology, INVEST NOW!"
Yes we are, as we are,
And so shall we remain,
Until the end.

"Rumor has it that they are bringing in another ten thousand more refugees into our already over crowded Hooverville tomorrow. I haven't heard from my family in nearly two years since I came here myself. Sure wish I could get a message to them. That is, if they're still alive. God only knows how the rest of the world is getting by."
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

Please enjoy this last issue of the New York Times, due to the worsening energy crisis we can no longer afford the electricity to publish electronically. Good bye and good luck!
Alfred Tennyson wrote:We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

August 3rd, 2084

The Unified World Government announced yesterday that global CO2 emmissions in the atmospehere dropped below 425 ppb for the first time in over 50 years. UWG scientists speculated that the decrease might result in a lowering of global temperatures by as much as 0.00025 degrees C within the next quarter century.

In other news, the UWG has announced the discovery of water on Mars, and is seeking volunteers to sign up for the extra-terrestrial exploration of the red-yet-soon-to-be-purple planet. Entire families are encouraged to apply.
