Someone was visiting a parent at a seniors home who was "out of it", diagnosed with dementia. Took her out for a walk around the grounds. On the way in she sat down at a piano in the lobby and started playing.

Music is great. I use that with my mom who is in similar shape. The nursing home brings in live performers sometimes and they really like that. It brings to life people that seem so out of it. Also we watch old TV shows like I love Lucy and Doris Day (I enjoy them too!) and old movies with Fred Astair.
