Russia Receives Lowest Approval in World; U.S. Highest

Image

For the past six years, the U.S. has typically received the highest approval ratings and Russia the lowest. But what the trend line does not show is that countries affiliated with the West, particularly NATO countries, soured on Russia dramatically. And, at the same time, Russians and people in many of its former republics -- chiefly Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan -- all felt much more negatively about the leadership of the U.S., the EU and Germany.

Survey Methods

Results are based on face-to-face and telephone interviews with approximately 1,000 adults, aged 15 and older, in each country or area. This report provides annual results of leadership approval of the U.S., Germany, the European Union, China and Russia from 2007 through 2014. Throughout 2014, residents were asked to rate U.S., German and Russian leadership in 135 countries or areas, and residents in 136 countries or areas were asked to rate the EU and China.

It mainly seems to be a reflection of local media positions.

"High disapproval of Russia's leadership was centralized in Western countries."

The Russians' view of the US and EU took a massive nosedive after sanctions.

"Russians, in turn, largely feel the same way about the leadership of the EU, U.S. and Germany. Russians gave the U.S. and the EU the lowest approval ratings in the world and the highest disapproval ratings. Russians' disapproval of the U.S. nearly doubled from 42% in 2013 to 82% in 2014 and their disapproval of the EU's leadership more than doubled from 26% to 70% in that same period. "

It would be interesting to see a breakdown poll of approval for Governments from their own citizens. But even that is bound to be influenced by their local loyal media.

Here in the US Gallup says 75% of the public disapproves of Congress, 18% approve.

Obama is doing a bit better with 46.4% approval:

Sounds like in 2013 the Russians liked the US government more than Americans did.

Well, I don't know, it's a scientific gallup poll. They called people up around the world, asked them their opinion of various nations' leadership in the world.

You can see USA numbers dipped during Iraq and Bush years.

The numbers went up, with Obama, then people around the world got a bit disappointed with Obama -- same as we Americans did.

You can see Russia's approval numbers, always already low, taking a nosedive when Putin starting pushing on neighbors.

The poll is just a fact and the reality of things and what people in the world really think. They approve of American leadership in the world, the most. Their opinion of Chinese leadership has been gradually falling, as China too has started doing things like seizing fisheries and building air bases on coral reefs, and claiming new exclusive zones in the sea, and being more aggressive in the world.

45% percent of people in the world approve of American leadership

China: 29%
Russia: 22%
EU: 39%

I just found this poll interesting, supposedly the world is so "anti american" and everyone wants America to step back and get out of the way and let China and Russia lead, or maybe the EU, yet when polled, the world approves of American leadership twice as much versus China-Russia, and they approve of us even more than the EU.

Results from the approve/disapprove world poll about Canada:

1% Approve
1% Disapprove
87% Who?
11% Is that still a country?

Just yanking your pierogi. Obviously the US will bomb the shit out of just about anyone. Unless they can bomb us back, in which case we'll just try to undermine their economy.

But hey, Pax Americana and all that.

I'm not sure how adding the word "scientific" would in any way invalidate my point that people's opinions appear to reflect the stance of the local media.

Russia has two, and ONLY two allies. Her Army and her Navy.

The following is Putin failing to give a *****:
Yes we are, as we are,
And so shall we remain,
Until the end.
