They force you to install something just to watch a video. If it's not classified as malware, it should be. I see these tactics very commonly on sites streaming pirate videos. Avoid them. If you think something obvious like this is equivalent to believing 911 is an inside job you're crazy.

If you're interested in societal level mind altering dangers, here are a few to review...

------------------------------------------------------------------

Search topic:
lead-crime hypothesis

Summary:
The oil industry may be indirectly responsible for crime waves in the 20th century. Since gasoline was deleaded, crime is down and reduced lead exposure is a suspected cause. Country wide lead exposure due to tetraethyl lead in gasoline may have reduced IQ's and increased impulsivity and criminal behavior in individuals most exposed, so places like cities.

My own opinion, this could also explain a few things about Roman culture which may or may not have had issues with lead. But so far regarding Rome that idea is not proven.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Search topic:
toxoplasma brain behavior

Summary:
Toxoplasma is a parasite cats spread. It makes mice not fear cats and mate more. So more cats around can result in more mice. For humans, it may influence criminal behavior and sexual behavior as well as lowering iq a few points.

Also similar to mice, I wouldn't be surprised if it makes people like cats more then they otherwise would, such as reducing aversion to the smell of cat urine.

Search topic:
Endocrine Disruptors

Summary:
BPA like from plastic bottles or handling paper receipts can change human behavior and hormone balances.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Search topic:
birth control mating preference

Summary:
Hormonal birth control changes mating preferences for women. The deeper issue is that women going on and off hormonal birth control may damage their relationships due to changing attraction to who they are with.

I suspect varying levels of exposure to BPA may cause turmoil similar to studies on changing birth control.

They don't force you, they offer you, just like they offer you other ads. You can watch videos without installing anything, I just followed the link in this topic and it works.

ennui2 wrote:If it's not classified as malware, it should be. I see these tactics very commonly on sites streaming pirate videos.

True, if you install anything they offer you you'll regret it.

ennui2 wrote:Avoid them.

No need to go to such extremes. Simply use Adblock or Ghostery (or both) and you'll never see any offers again.
