A person who stands on his tip-toes cannot stand long, and a person who is too proud of himself cannot
set a good example - Lao-Tzu

For whoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 14:11, Bible, KJV

I love peasants and farmers; they are not scholarly enough nor educated enough to tell sophisticated lies.
- Charles de Montesquieu

A soul does not learn; it just remembers what it knew all the time.
- Daud El Gaffer

A man comes into the world with his hands pushed into fists, as if he wants to say , "All this world is mine". A man leaves this world with his palms open, as if to say, "Look, I take nothing with me." - Talmud

"The more that laws and regulations are given prominence, the more thieves and robbers there will be."
-Lao-Tzu

Jesus Saves. Trust in Him.
II Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Believe nothing,
No matter where you read it,
Or who has said it,
Not even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense.

Buddha

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

Some verses from the Book of Proverbs (a couple different translations, including New American Standard Bible):

Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 3:3

Proverbs 22:17-24:34, Thirty Sayings of the Wise

Saying 2
Do not exploit the poor because they are poor
and do not crush the needy in court,
for the Lord will take up their case

Saying 9
Do not eat the food of a begrudging host,
do not crave his delicacies;
for he is the kind of person
who is always thinking about the cost.

“Eat and drink,” he says to you,
but his heart is not with you.
You will vomit up the little you have eaten
and will have wasted your compliments.

Wisdom’s Invitation

Wisdom has built her house,
She has hewn out her seven pillars;
She has prepared her food, she has mixed her wine;
She has also set her table;

She has sent out her maidens, she calls
From the tops of the heights of the city:

“Whoever is naive, let him turn in here!”
To him who lacks understanding she says,

“Come, eat of my food
And drink of the wine I have mixed.

“Forsake your folly and live,
And proceed in the way of understanding.”

...

The woman of folly is boisterous,
She is naive and knows nothing.

She sits at the doorway of her house,
On a seat by the high places of the city,

Calling to those who pass by,
Who are making their paths straight:

“Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,”
And to him who lacks understanding she says,

“Stolen water is sweet;
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”

But he does not know that the dead are there,
That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

Proverbs 9

The Words of Lemuel
The words of King Lemuel, the oracle which his mother taught him:

It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
It is not for kings to drink wine,
Or for rulers to desire strong drink,

For they will drink and forget what is decreed,
And pervert the rights of all the afflicted.

Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
And wine to him whose life is bitter.

Let him drink and forget his poverty
And remember his trouble no more.

Open your mouth for the mute,
For the rights of all the unfortunate.

Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.

Maybe not religious but not bad.....

I no longer have the energy for meaningless friendships, forced interactions or unnecessary conversations. If we don’t vibrate on the same frequency there’s just no reason for us to waste our time. I’d rather have no one and wait for substance than to not feel someone and fake the funk.

Lot's of noise with very little content in human affairs is what lead me deep into the woods way back in my young 20's.

As modern industrial civilization continues to be cornered into the check mate of human overshoot, solutions void of content and rising noise levels will elevate the pressure resulting in increasing chaos and implosion...... aided by external consequences.

Being a silent witness somewhere on the edges of this diaspora waiting for a return to equilibrium will be something like the dark ages when monks in monasteries worked as scribes and conserved for centuries the ancient texts.

I see a future of war and maelstrom and social upheaval on one hand

And the value of family and community pulling together on the other hand.

The night defines the day, the day defines night, those most horrific injustices that will arise in the chaos will also define the social altruism that will emerge as a counter point.

It is a hard truth but one that history has born witness to in the past. If one day we do succeed to lay the foundations of a more equitable society that honors each other and our mother earth it will arise out of the deepest and darkest and ugliest chapter of injustice and ignorance.

Get ready, prepare yourselves, because we are entering a punctuated period of time when the extremes will rule.

The sacred and profane will burn bright and there will be very little middle ground in between for most of us.

Choose wisely where choice is still possible on how you want to orient yourselves in this volatility.

There will be very fertile ground to cultivate hate

And very fertile ground to cultivate love.

Your choice.

Wise words.

“An eye for an eye….we are all blind” – Dalai Lama

“An open heart is an open mind.” – Dalai Lama

“Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.” ― Dalai Lama

“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” ― Dalai Lama

“Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.” ― Dalai Lama

“The whole purpose of religion is to facilitate love and compassion, patience, tolerance, humility, and forgiveness.” ― Dalai Lama

“Neither a space station nor an enlightened mind can be realized in a day.” – Dalai Lama

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” ― Dalai Lama

The purpose of life is to create your Self anew, in the next grandest version of the greatest vision ever you held about Who You Are. It is to announce and become, express and fulfill, experience and know your true Self.

Quran (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."
Alfred Tennyson wrote:We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
