Bahamas issues US travel advisory over racial tensions

The Bahamas has issued a rare travel advisory for its citizens visiting the US, recommending particular care for young men in cities affected by tensions over recent police shootings.

The advisory warns citizens to not get involved in protests and avoid crowds.

It comes after two black men were shot dead by police in Minnesota and Louisiana, and five officers were killed at a protest in Dallas.

Some 90% of the Bahamas population is black, according to the CIA.

The advisory comes as the country, a former British colony, celebrates its Independence Day holiday, on 10 July, a time when many locals travel abroad, including to the US.......

People who thought that electing our first black President would bring racial healing to the United States have now been proven wrong. Obama's focus on black grievances and his support for anti-police movements in the black community like Black Lives Matter---a group with supporters who openly call for killing police---- has actually exacerbated racial tensions in the United States.

Hopefully Hillary will be able to bring racial healing to the United States when she is elected President---Obama has just made things worse then ever.

Yeah, let's blame the (half) black president for racial tension. Good one. Why not change your avatar to Cog's?

Who can heal America's growing racial divide? CNN reports that it is not Obama.

dallas-heal-america-obama

the first black President's long, complicated and often cautious conversation with Americans about race is running out of time.
Obama, the man who once famously said, "There is not a Black America, and white America and Latino America, and Asian America -- there is the United States of America," seemed to have changed his mind.

Theres the problem, right there. Obama long ago abandoned any pretense of being post-racial. The supposed "post-racial" president now presents himself as representing the grievances of the minority black community against the larger white community. And Obama has done this in a very crude way---Obama's support for "Black Lives Matter"----a group which chants openly for the murder of police----puts Obama in the position of backing some very dangerous ideas.

I'm glad that avatar bothers you ennui2. I should have used it years ago. LOL

But back to the issue. We don't have gun control problem, we have a black crime problem. Something Obama, Hillary, and the usual suspects on this board seem to never want to talk about.

Kill white people or excuse those who do is the theme of the Democrat party. Which is ironic since the Democrat party supported slavery and created the Klan.

We have a violence, drug, gun, impunity (police), excess aggressiveness problem in the US. We also have a failed prison system that only serves as a warehouse for people rather than a place for rehabilitation. We also have now a education , jobs problem as in people with insufficient or no access to any or at least good education or jobs. Finally, like icing on the cake we do not have sufficient caring and empathy and that permeates all institutions including the family. So yes we have social problems, focusing on just one or two is not productive. These problems reinforce each other and overlap. Just a thought but seems they all seem in some way to arise from our disconnect to each other. Just like our environmental problems can partly be attributed to our disconnect with Nature.

NPR just carried Obama's press conference live from the NATO summit in Poland. The reporters clamored to ask Obama about the mass murder of policemen at the Dallas Black Lives Matter rally. Obama ----after the usual mmmmmss and hmmmmmss ----- finally started discoursing about slavery and the civil war.

When the President of the United States discusses the mass murder of policemen in the context of the civil war and slavery that existed 150 years ago, you know the discussion isn't going to be helpful, i.e. Obama rambling on about the civil war and slavery is weirdly off topic and is unlikely to do much to calm the racial strife that is intensifying back in the USA.

Sure its sad those policemen in Dallas were killed....but what about the civil war and slavery?

Soooo, I'm just slightly curious.

Are any of you gun nuts even the tiniest bit concerned that basically a citizen was shot to death by a cop because he properly informed the officer that he was lawfully carrying a weapon?

I would have thought that this would be the thing that really freaked you types out. But apparently I really don't understand your position.

YOU do not know what happened in that incident. Nor does anyone else until an inquiry establishes the facts. We do not know whether he told them he was armed or resisted arrest and they discovered his gun in the struggle.

If the cops were at fault, they will be punished. If the guy who got shot was at fault, they will not. It is obvious enough that he was not complying the orders of the police.

As KJ says the facts are not in yet. The charges floating around are quite serious if true but the video was pulled from facebook before I could see it in full so I have to wait as you should. The cop isn't going anywhere so there is no need to rush to judgement.

SWAT swarms parking garage by DPD headquarters with weapons drawn

Numerous SWAT team members were witnessed swarming a parking garage near Dallas police headquarters with their weapons drawn. It is not yet clear what the SWAT team was responding to. News 8's Rebecca Lopez is on scene gathering more information.

---

Sources tell News 8 that Dallas Police Headquarters is under a lockdown Saturday afternoon due to a threat that is being 'taken seriously' by police.

"The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city and has taken precautionary measures to heightened security," Dallas Police said in a statement early Saturday evening.

The lockdown was put into place shortly after 4 p.m.

Dallas shooting: High alert over 'new security threat'

Reports are saying a Houston group made threats to come to DPD headquarters and target officers.

Officers with body armor and long guns were seen outside Dallas police headquarters shortly after 5 p.m. local time. Police did not disclose the nature of the threat or how it was made.

Overheard reports that they are searching parking garage for a suspicious person.

Reports saying shots have been fired.

Officers are planning to breach a lock door in the garage with a shotgun

Clear as a bell on a bright, quiet, clear morning.

Deep State is a Terror State, Torture State,
Tyrant State — and it’s OK with that.

Deep State was formed to bodyguard elites,
keeping their dominance ever-refreshed.

Deep State doesn’t care what you advocate,
just as long as you toe the unsaid line.

Deep State is cold, lacks true affect;
hates only that which hinders it.

Deep State fences the range of opinion
like a cattle baron stringing barbed wire.

Deep State loves culture war, stokes all sides,
thrives on strife, the bitterer the better.

Deep State is not in full control; it just
knows which way it wants the world to roll.

Deep State kills the leaders it doesn’t like;
a lesson our leaders learned long ago.

Deep State doesn’t care if a whistle’s blown;
it already holds the reins of ‘reform.’

Deep State enjoys the horse-race hoopla,
voters vexed by the vetted and the duped.

Deep State’s wars have no other aim
than to keep our masters’ coffers in coin.

Deep State doesn’t mind blowing up the world,
if the world won’t do what Deep State wants.

Deep State is Red, Deep State is Blue;
Deep State don’t give a damn for you.

The possibility of a negative(lethal) interaction with the police goes way down if you aren't a criminal, aren't doing criminal things, don't resist arrest, and are generally a pleasant person.

Looks like at least some other NRA gun nuts are at least a bit conflicted on the Philandro situation.

Unlike the racist sh!ts here who are too cowardly to just say what they clearly are believing--that it's just f'n fine for white men to be carrying, but if any black man decides to carry while black, their black asses can be executed gangland style by police, and no one in the establishment is going to blink, certainly not any of the 2nd amendment supposed enthusiasts here.

You racist sh!ts just disgust me. This sh!t is really bringing out your true colors tho.

We can now all see what a racist cesspool this place is.

Looks like it's time to check out of this sh!t hole. Plenty of other places have intelligent conversation without putting up with open racists.

Plant, for one, would no doubt, if living during the 3rd Reich, have had a sign on his lawn "SS LIVES MATTER" even as millions of Jews, atheists, gays, Gypsies, and various others were being hauled of to the gas chambers.

Have a good life.

Hope you really feel good about yourselves.

C, adding his typical unsupported, ignorant bullshit.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... -black-men

"...21% of deadly incidents began with a complaint to police alleging domestic violence or some other domestic disturbance. About 16% arose from officers attempting to arrest a wanted person, execute a warrant or apprehend a fugitive. Another 14% of killings followed an attempted traffic or street stop, 13% came after someone committed a violent crime and 7% after a non-violent crime."

Soooo, 100-13 = 87% of fatal police shooting/murders of black men did not involve someone involved in a violent crime.

(Don't get me wrong--our trigger happy US cops are more likely to kill you for no good reason no matter what your color is in this country compared to pretty much any other industrial country, but a much higher ration are blacks and other people of color than whites. Racism is definitely part of the equation, even if it's not the whole thing.)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sf/invest ... arly-1000/

Nearly a thousand times this year, an American police officer has shot and killed a civilian.

Although black men make up only 6 percent of the U.S. population, they account for 40 percent of the unarmed men shot to death by police this year

a hugely disproportionate number — 3 in 5 — of those killed after exhibiting less threatening behavior were black or Hispanic.

You are not alone, as they say, don't be racist, hate them all the same. The point of people being murdered by people who's primary purpose of employment at arms is community safety goes beyond racism, as does the rush to defend the actions of murderers. The entire scenario is bloody woeful & seems to be spiralling out of control. Each to their own seems to be the push & pull of it. Unfortunately there is no unifying authority to bring some sanity promptly into the situation.
