I saw this on Bloomberg today in an editorial. Found the Fed source link with a search. It surprised me, so I thought I'd share.
Household Debt Service Payments as a Percent of Disposable Personal Income

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/TDSP

In recent years (up to Q4-2016, which is where the chart ends), this has been hovering near 10%, according to the FED.

This is lower than the entire period From 1980[/b] (where the chart begins) through 2011.

With all the histrionics about collapsing under all the US consumer debt, this seems like very good news to me. But I'm sure doomers can tell us why it's a scam or doesn't matter...
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Zerohedge's ability to predict doom is even worse than the doomer's predictions on this board. Which is saying quite a lot actually.

:-D
If the post mixes inflation adjusted figures (like for the minimum wage, since the minimum wage was $2.30 in 1978), and nominal figures for things impacted by inflation like housing, why bother?

The post becomes complete nonsense with an obvious use of distortion to try to cast a doomer slant on things.

It's true that the inflation for healthcare and college tuition has been huge compared to the wage gains of the vast majority of people in the US. If that's your message, why not just post the simple truth of that?

The typical U.S. household at last has more income than 17 years ago
For the first time since the U.S. entered the worst recession of the post-war era, the typical U.S. household has more income than it did when the century started.

Sentier Research reports that median annual household income, adjusted for inflation, was $59,361 in April, a big 1% gain from March and a statistically significant move.

More significantly, it’s above the $58,846 level from January 2000, when Sentier first started tabulating the series, and 2.1% above where it stood when the U.S. entered the Great Recession in December 2007.

The recent gains from the 2011 bottom reflect low levels of inflation, as well as a slow upward increase in wages as the labor market tightens.

So much for the idea of a failing jobs market in the US.

Steady as she goes ...

New Home Sales Rebound as Price Run-Up Continues
Sales of newly built homes bounced back last month following an underwhelming April, according to a new report published Friday by the Census Bureau.

A total of 610,000 new homes were sold at a seasonally adjusted annual rate last month, up 2.9 percent from April's total and 8.9 percent year over year. That's a marked improvement from April's 7.9 percent drop and represents the third-highest sale total seen so far this year.

Considerable gains were made in the geographic South and on the West Coast, where transactions rebounded 6.2 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively. That success offset overall weakness in the Northeast and Midwest, where sales fell 10.8 percent and 25.7 percent, respectively.

Doesn't the article essentially say that the Tesla will save the auto industry?

Is that after or before we get to Mars

What will your excuse be when there are several hundred thousand Tesla Model 3's running around in a couple years? That it's all a conspiracy theory by the MSM?

What will your excuse be when there are millions of Tesla EV's, including the Model Y, plus several mainstream competitors' EV's running around in about 5 years, all with a range of 200 miles plus range -- which is fine for the vast majority of peoples' daily driving needs? That it's a myth? That there can't possibly ever be 10 million produced?

The EV deniers are starting to look like the AGW deniers -- having trouble dealing with facts on the ground that they don't want to hear.
