Non-Americans sick of US election

Unread postby Rod_Cloutier » Tue 04 Oct 2016, 19:59:05

As a Canadian, I'm going to say I'm sick of the US election. The process is way too long, the primaries and on and on and so forth, way longer of a process than any other country.

36 days and counting till they'll talk about something else!

It doesn't matter who wins, it won't change anything:

Rod - You might try the solution I've discovered: don't read or watch any TV reports about. Not sure if you have cable in your neck of the woods but I have hundreds of other viewing options. For me the campaign season ended months ago.

Agreed it's too drawn-out, but there will be short-term differences depending on who wins. Saying it's all the same is just not true.

We are sicker of it than you are outside the US. For us it is inescapable and hard to avoid, there is no broadcast of news less politics.

Way too long I agree 100%. Makes no difference, I would stick an 'almost' into. The caliber of candidates is woeful. Bernie would have been so much funner, besides probably actually different.

I can just imagine non Americans reaction to this pair of highly imperfect candidates. I imagine many must be mocking them and by extension this country

Soon the election will be over and non-americans will stop being sick of the US election and go back to being sick of the US itself.

It will all be over when Killary wins...sure. This election is going to be hounding us for the next few years. So get used to it.

There are non-Americans who aren't even paying attention. On the balcony of our lodge right now are a group of local Panamanians discussing all sorts of topics, the election not even brought up. The only Americana mentioned is The Cubs winning the World Seiries.

When you are in a rural place surrounded by forest the election seems like an irrelevant perversion.

"When you are in a rural place surrounded by forest the election seems like an irrelevant perversion.' Yes but the sad thing is these so called leaders make decisions that affect millions upon millions. So I agree a perversion but not irrelevant

And yet a little over 50% of all voters will probably bother enough to actually cast a vote for either pest or cholera, as if it mattered. The system still works as intended.

Hey, they should hold a parallel election, for non-voters only, who don't care about the other clowns. No advertising allowed, and no office to win. Just for sports. I'd read that reporting. Who would win?

Most Americans are sick of the election as well. This time I do believe in a silent majority. The vocal minorities ranting "hurray for my side" are clownish.

I am hosting some US citizens at the moment who are official representatives of the US government. I will not be more specific. In their capacity as statesmen and women they shared with me that the current election is an embarrassment..

Imagine American diplomats in their international capacity having to explain to foreign colleagues the inner workings of the current US election?
