I think you are confusing regression models with correlation models. This is a common mistake made by novices to statistics. There is no causality in a regression model. An example of this is the height of woman’s skirts vs. the Dow average from 1920 to 1968. Correlation does refer to a function between the X, Y variables.


There is no causality in a regression model. What is a regression model? Would anyone like to venture a guess? How interesting that it should be shorty mentioning the same thing I have been saying since I took a 10 second look at the etp. But let us not forget, when he did his regression, it had a high r squared!
