Would you care to quantify "major economic downturn"?
With doomers so often claiming a slowdown is a "crash", etc., a doomer claiming next year will see a "major economic downturn" is like an ordinary person claiming next year "the sun will rise daily", so you're not exactly telling us much with that prediction.

Something as bad as 2008 or worse. The powers that be no longer care to prop up the Western consumers with Asians and others picking up the slack. Plus, monetary stimulus via debt is just untenable at this point

Based on?
Biden seems to be ahead in the polls and in the funding, from what I'm seeing.
