Fine, but you have to promise to keep Quebec. :-D

actually, for most of us who have lived in the country for many years and spent time in Quebec (and speak the language), we are more than happy to have Quebec as part of Canada. What is depressing is the continual whining from a very small minority of 'quois who think they are hard done by (or at least see it as an opportunity to get a bit more). It is a great province, the old parts of Montreal make you happy to visit and Quebec city is great all year as something different if you aren't aware of Canadian history. And the Gatineau's are very beautiful in the fall. If you speak Parisian french like I do the farmers pretty much think you are a dick but at least you can get by. As a Canadian I wouldn't give up Quebec ever....now if you asked me to give up Trudeau I would probably pay you to take him.

I thought that this was clear to people a long time ago. The idea that the US President has to treat foreign states as if they were parts of the USA with all the legal rights and privileges is absurd. Either the President controls foreign policy or he does not. The most he has to accommodate is the elected Congress in terms of how much money he can splurge abroad. Congress cannot make the President spend money since Congress must accommodate the President as well. Since the D. Party could not be bothered to negotiate the Ukraine expenditures, it cannot invoke any decision by Trump on the matter as grounds for impeachment. Trump did not violate any deal with Congress.

If only the mods would reject posts that had links to zerohedge the quality of this site would improve 10 fold.

BOLD PREDICTIONS
-Billions are on the verge of starvation as the lockdown continues. (yoshua, 5/20/20)

HALL OF SHAME:
-Short welched on a bet and should be shunned.
-Frequent-flyers should not cry crocodile-tears over climate-change.

If the mods would only reject posts I don't like.

Fixed it for you.

Why bother with this site at all if it's just a bunch of zerohedge zombies who have nothing to contribute besides zerohedge links?

Why ask the question, when it only seems to affect you. Whining doesn't seem to work, what's your next move?

I don't deny that clusters of forum members enjoy getting into a ZH circle-jerk but I am definitely not the only one on this site who hates zerohedge links.

I’m not fond of zh either. HOWEVER given the accuracy of CNN, MSNBC, etc in covering the Mueller case, for example, it seems most of the media is about the same level.

That’s not defending sh, it’s lamenting that the rest are no better.

The content of the linked article speaks for itself. The pathetic attempt to shoot the messenger and fob of any information from "tainted" sources is pathetic. This is an example of the D. Party groupthink that is one of the roots of the current insane polarization. Only "officially approved" sources of information are to be trusted. No independent thinking applied to that "information" whatsoever. As you note, the "officially approved" sources are spewing sh*t, so they are clearly tainted and cannot be given any benefit of the doubt. That is why all information has to be evaluated on a per case basis and the source does not make it true or false.

When you have a president responsible for tens of thousands of untrue statements a year (81 in the last week) it's hard to single out the media as the root of all evil.

Why do you think it’s even possible to identify “the root of all evil”?

Actually Bidens actions were extortion.

Prove it.

Newfie wrote:it’s lamenting that the rest are no better.

It's a fatalistic argument to say such.

IMHO, they are better, but not perfect.

I also don't blame CNN or MSNBC for being anti-trump. Objectively speaking everyone should be against trump. He's incompetent and corrupt.

Media muckraking serves a purpose. Think of Woodward and Bernstein vis a vis watergate. If Trump has nothing to hide then he has nothing to fear from the media scrutinizing vs. bootlicking.

I do find it rather depressing that some of the long term posters here who are supposedly keyed in on limits to growth seem indistinguishable from your average alt-righters when it comes to support for Trump (not to mention lifestyle, whether it be profligate flying or not wanting to give up big ICE trucks). When all is said and done he will have done more to accelerate us towards a malthusian catastrophe than any president in modern memory. That to me is proof positive that cognitive dissonance and tribalism knows no bounds.

It just seems like as we get closer to doom the biggest coping mechanism most are latching onto is blindly shifting towards the right, supporting the "strong man" and demonizing the entire liberal platform (including anything remotely green).

Nuance? Hah. This place is only for hyperbole, not nuance. But then that's true of pretty much the entire internet. Par for the course.

Yes. And it’s your choice to add to the furor or to make considered observations. Are you simply an animal driven by your base desires or do you have a reasoning ability?

Odd then that over the three years of Trump's presidency plug in EV sales are booming along with wind and PV solar installations.

The Democrat's goal is not only to change the outcome of the 2016 but also the 2020 elections. We spent three years investigating whether any American colluded with, conspired with, or otherwise cooperated with Russia to change the outcome of the 2016 election.

The conclusion by SC Mueller was none of this collusion, conspiracy, or cooperation occured. So here we are.

If Joe Biden and son were involved in corruption in Ukraine, is this not a legitimate thing to investigate?

If Joe Biden and son were not corrupt in Ukraine dealings, would it not be good for American voters to know this before they vote in November?

It appears that the stage is set for Mitch Mcconnell to not impose any sanctions on the President over this impeachment, no new evidence, nothing. Could be over in two weeks, maybe, even without drama. It's not a bad outcome. What are we going to remove the entire White House Pres, VP, and cabinet over this? I doubt it.

We have an entire year to go now to see what new dramas develop however. Hold tight.

I don't know what the heck you're talking about. There are countless articles that make the case for Trump being thrown out of office. If I were to drop them in here you guys would just casually dismiss them. There is no "reasoning" going on here, just tribalism. It would be nice if you got off your moral high-horse and just copped to it.
